This is Faces in a Crowd —

a collection born from color, connection, and contrast.

I asked friends and family to send me colors that inspired them.

Those shades became the heartbeat of these pieces.

From there, I explored the space between structure and the organic—

shapes that are both intentional and free.

Each painting captures a fragment of a moment,

a feeling,

a face you might almost recognize.

This is my latest work—personal, layered, and full of quiet moments.

“Sometimes She Bites the Hand That Feeds Her”

24” x 48” canvas, unframed.
Mixed Media original painting by Angela Holman.

This collection of paintings was inspired by the people in my life. What started out in my mind as organic pebble shapes quickly became crowds of people. Each time my husband walked through my studio as I was painting he mentioned that the paintings looked like crowds to him…Then I started seeing it too!  So each painting has a story, a memory, or a feeling connected to it.

“Sometimes She Bites the Hand that Feeds Her” was inspired by my three year old cousin, Charly. Charly reached into her crayon bag and chose an acidic chartreuse for me to build a painting around. This lead me to a mixture of blues and greens to tone down her color choice and I loved where this painting went!   Charly DID go through a biting phase in her earlier pre-school years and would sometimes actually bite the hand that was feeding her…. But haven’t we honestly all done that before at least figuratively?
