“The Ascension” Original Painting

The Ascension was painted before I knew it would carry this meaning. On the day it was completed, two members of my online boutique community shared the news that they had each lost a beloved family member—one a husband, the other a father-in-law. In the wake of that sorrow, the painting seemed to reveal its title.

Soft veils of color rise and dissolve into light, while gentle reflections below suggest the space between what is earthly and what is eternal. The composition feels suspended between presence and absence, grief and peace, memory and hope. Layers of blush, gold, blue, and green emerge through the surface like fleeting moments—fragments of a life remembered and cherished.

Though not created as a memorial, The Ascension became a reminder that love endures beyond loss. It speaks to the quiet mystery of letting go, and to the belief that even in our deepest sadness, there is light waiting on the other side.
