”Mountains of Sorrow, Rivers of Song” original painting by Angela Holman. My usual landscapes are flat because I live in perhaps the flattest land in the U.S. In the Mississippi Delta, the biggest hills we see are actually the man made levees. Believe it or not, this painting started as an abstract, turned into a flat landscape, and then morphed into these colorful textured mountains. The turquoise line running throughout looked like a meandering river to me. When I think of mountains and rivers I think of an Amos Lee song. I named my painting after his song. So, if you’d like a soundtrack to go with this painting, that’s the song!
