“Through the Tears in Her Blue Eyes” Original Painting

Through the Tears in Her Blue Eyes captures the quiet space where grief begins to soften into remembrance. Inspired by the lyric from Andrew McMahon’s song, Ohio,  the painting doesn’t tell a literal story, but instead evokes the blurred, dreamlike way emotion reshapes memory. Layers of luminous cream, pale blush, and muted gold emerge through deep blue-gray passages, as if seen through a vale of tears.

Soft drips, atmospheric blending, and scattered black marks create a sense of movement—like rain on a window, distant birds crossing the sky, or fragments of thought that refuse to disappear. The horizon hovers between earth and sky, certainty and longing, inviting the viewer to linger in that in-between place where sadness and hope exist together.
